JLS or Jack the Lad Swing is an English music band of boys, which rose to fame after they reached the final of the 2008 edition of the popular reality show The X Factor. They were expected to win the final round but lost to Alexandra Burke.

The X Factor, however, can be credited for bringing the band out of the closet. JLS was initially called UFO, the initials standing for Unique Famous Outrageous, and was formed sometime in 2006. The band consists of Oritse Williams, Marvin Humes, Jonathan Gill and Aston Merrygold. Oritse set out with the idea of making a band and with the help of friends, met the others. Gill was the last person in. Though not a group of friends for long, they connected to make music and came out with some good singles to win the Urban Music Awards.

On X-Factor, they changed their name to JLS and were commended for being an excellent band at various stages. After the show, they signed with Epic Records to make music of JLS. The deal made sure that the JLS songs were being written and tuned by some of the best people in the industry.

After their first single hit, Beat Again, came the first JLS album titled the name of the band. JLS music and JLS music videos were appreciated widely and many songs became chartbusters, two of them even topping the UK charts for a couple of weeks. Among the songs in the album, JLS’ Everybody in Love music won many awards this year. JLS’ One Shot music, Close to You and Only Tonight are also famous numbers.

Their second album was ‘Outta This World’, which came close to topping the charts but being beaten by Take That’s ‘Progress’. ‘The Club is Alive’ was the lead single of the album.

You can expect more music by JLS in 2011. Speaking about the album and songs, Lucas Secon, a contributor, said in these music videos JLS would be singing in a more live-like way than using more synthetic elements.

The internet is now an easy source for free JLS music. You can also go for the JLS CD option but JLS music downloads are now quite popular. For JLS radio and JLS free music, you can log onto many channels online, which are mostly free or charge a nominal fee only.

JLS’ first album sold more than 1.2 million copies, an outstanding success for a first-time band. Earlier this year, they signed with Jive Records for an American launch. An album with eight of JLS’ singles was released in the United States, faring very well there too. Going forward, we are sure to see only some good growth and sings from this British band.
