Slipknot, the heavy metal band based in Iowa, USA, has been especially noticed for two things – their style and the number of people that first made the band. Their shows were almost chaotic, leaving the audience with almost pain in the ears but they were nevertheless exponents of the purest form of heavy metal music.

Slipknot band was officially formed in 1995 by Paul Gray and Shawn Crahan, the bassist and percussionist of the band. The band, for most of the time they performed, had nine members. Gray died earlier this year leaving one less in the band. Till present day, they have released five main albums, all of which have been hits. Slipknot albums also comprise of four DVDs and a live album.

Slipknot music, as mentioned earlier, is completely hard rock and heavy metal. In the movement called New Wave of American Heavy Metal, music by Slipknot has an esteemed position among illustrious others such as Biohazard, Prong and Pantera. Though allegedly blamed for these crimes, Slipknot was never officially accused of this nor did they regard this very kindly. The band members would make it clear at every turn that they condemned crimes committed apparently inspired by the lyrics of their songs.
